Known to travelers as the highest peak of Indochina area with the elevation of 3143m. It is not easy to conquer but no need any technical climbing. Following foregoers' experiences that we should not underestimate its difficulty. So if you want to be a vanquisher of this top, please prepare your good gear, good physical fitness then follow below suggested example.
Night 1: Hanoi to Lao Cai by the night train 4 berth soft sleeper cabin with AC
At 7:30 pm transfer from your hotel to the Hanoi train station for boarding at 8:30 pm. You will be in shared AC soft sleeper cabins of 4 to travel North to Lao Cai town.
Inclusion: Transfer, 4 bed deluxe sharing cabin on Livitrans Express train
Day 1: Sapa, hike up to the 2800m
Today's morning: The train arrives at about 5:00 am; look for the "Fansipan View Hotel" sign when you exit the train station, as our guide will pick you up. Then take a morning drive through the clouds by car / van to Sapa (~ 1.5 hours). When you arrive in Sapa you will be taken to a local restaurant for a morning shower, breakfast, a short rest and some last preparation for the challenging hike. Transfer by car/van to the starting point at Tram Ton Pass which is 15 km from Sapa town. Start hiking through the jungle rain forest along wild mountain streams. Break for a picnic lunch in the middle of an evergreen forest. More hiking to an elevation of about 2800 meters where we will make base camp. Local Hmong porters will help us to set up camp, start a small fire and prepare dinner. Share stories of past journeys and cultural myths under the stars before retiring for the night.

Day 2: Challenge to the TOP and down to 2200m
Breakfast at the first sign of daylight then final preparations for today, the longest day of hiking to the summit of Mt. Fansipan. The first section is steep and very challenging as we weave our way through the bamboo forests. At some points we are even forced to use ropes and harnesses for safety. We are rewarded with all our hardships forgotten and with the impression of standing on the top of Indochina. After a picnic lunch and a rest at the summit, we begin our descent to base camp. Clean off and refresh at a mountain stream while our Hmong porters set up camp and prepare dinner. Overnight again under the stars with the satisfaction of the day's accomplishment.

Day 3: 2200m back to Sapa through Sin Chai village.
Upon leaving the base camp, we begin walking downhill back to Sapa town. The steep trail is somewhat arduous but we have great opportunities to get some fantastic views from our vantage point. See the surrounding mountains, terraced valleys and quiet hilltribe villages far in the distance. Picnic lunch on the way, then we will be picked up in Sin Chai village and transferred back to Sapa town. When we arrive back in Sapa we will have shower and have free time until get transfered to Lao Cai train station.

Night 3: Lao Cai to Hanoi by 4 berth soft sleeper tourist sharing cabin
At 6:00 pm, you will be transfered by a tourist shared bus to Laocai train station, then take the night train back to Hanoi. End of the trip.
Note: This trip can be optional for 1 more night in Fansipan View Hotel ( At $25 for double or twin share) to take part in BacHa Sunday market group tour at $15, or to have 1 free day in Sapa romantic town.

Essentials:
- Good hiking shoes (should be soft, well fitted and anti-slippery), thick socks.
- Warm jacket and pullover (air expected to be very cold), preferable with head cover
- Rain coat (big enough to cover you backpack as well), cap, glasses
- Flash light
- Well-fitted gloves to help grab while trekking.
- First aid kit (aspirin, anti-biotic, salon pas, healing tape, energy pills...)
- Personal hygiene stuffs
Optionals:
Sleeping bag (otherwise will be provided on spot). Insect spray (not really necessary in this season). Protectors for knees and ankles- Whistle (to alert in case of emergencies)
Additional tips:
All belongings should be compact, light and just sufficient for the trek, avoid getting yourself suffering from the unnecessary burden. Trousers dressing should be loose to make it easy for long treks. Always stick to the group or local porters in case of assistance, don't deviate. Keep a good stable pace, no need to rush in any case. If you are ahead of the group, slow down and wait for the company. Always get yourself enough energy from the meals, particularly breakfast.
